Endocrine Conditions
Endocrinology is the study of hormones – chemical messengers - secreted by endocrine glands, which circulate in the blood to critically regulate many aspects of the body’s functions. Most glands are under the control of the master gland, the pituitary. Disease occurs when these glands make either too much (hyperfunction) or too little (hypofunction) of their respective hormone. The diagram below shows the location of the different glands. Click on each gland to learn more about its function and associated diseases.
